A Cincinnati parent advocacy group will hold a press conference Friday, October 30, from 4:30 to 5 p.m. at Save Our Youth Kings and Queens, 4848 Winneste Ave. in Winton Terrace, to inform parents about the Cincinnati Public Schools levy ahead of Election Day.

We Excel Cincinnati said the event is part of a series of forums it has hosted in the West End and Westwood to bring information “into communities with some of the greatest needs,” and to give families space to ask questions. Parents will be able to share firsthand experiences with their children's education, and organizers will discuss what the district says it will do with the levy money if it passes, what it might cost homeowners, and how it got onto the ballot.

The group will also call for a clear plan to improve reading and math achievement, according to the release. “We Excel Cincinnati does not endorse a position on the levy or tell residents how to vote,” the group said. “This press conference will focus on what children need to succeed and what families want to see from CPS, regardless of the election outcome.”

The group's website explains the proposed levy and includes a survey asking parents and community members to share their thoughts on CPS funding.
