Pope Leo XIV's planned November 6–17 trip to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru will go ahead as scheduled, the Vatican confirmed Monday, after medical examinations found no reason preventing the journey following his recent surgery.

The Holy See Press Office said the pope's recovery continues favorably and that examinations found no contraindications to travel as planned. The statement added that the condition treated in the October 13 operation was localized and that subsequent examinations found no need for further oncological treatment. Associated Press reporting published Monday identified the surgery as the removal of a lung lobe containing a nodule diagnosed as adenocarcinoma.

Leo, who is gradually resuming his duties while adjusting his schedule with doctors and allowing time for rest, said he looks forward to the journey with great joy and enthusiasm. “I am looking forward to returning to the continent where I've experienced so many moments of my life,” he said, calling the trip an occasion to strengthen communion, encourage the faithful in their mission and share a message of faith, hope and peace.

The visit will offer opportunities to strengthen bonds with local churches in all three countries, the Vatican said, as Leo reconnects with Latin American Catholics. The pope has thanked health care workers and the faithful around the world who have offered prayers for his recovery.
