The Justice Department on Friday announced the arrest of two former senior FBI officials — Nikki Floris, 46, and Bradley Benavides, 56 — each charged with one count of making false statements to Congress.

The pair, who held senior roles in the FBI's counterintelligence division, are accused of misleading a House panel in 2023 testimony about the since-dissolved Foreign Influence Task Force's role in the Hunter Biden investigations during the 2020 election.

Both surrendered on warrants and appeared Friday before Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui in D.C. federal court, who said the charges relate to "Hunter Biden's laptop and allegations around that." D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the charges, while FBI Director Kash Patel said they resulted from an investigation into the disbanded task force.
