Two men arrested in Fremont on first-degree cocaine trafficking charges
File photoTwo men were arrested this week on first-degree felony cocaine trafficking charges following months-long investigations into cocaine trafficking in Fremont, the Sandusky County Drug Task Force said in a press release posted Friday, October 23.
On Tuesday, October 20, agents and Sandusky County Sheriff's deputies arrested Kerry Pitts on charges of trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, both first-degree felonies. On Thursday, October 22, agents arrested Christopher McDonald on trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, both first-degree felonies, plus aggravated trafficking in drugs and aggravated possession of drugs, both third-degree felonies, and having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony.
The task force said both men had more cocaine on them when they were taken into custody. The release did not give the men's ages or hometowns, the amounts of drugs involved, or what type of drug led to the aggravated trafficking charges.
“These arrests are the results of several months-long investigations into cocaine trafficking taking place in the City of Fremont,” the release said. Additional charges against both men will be presented to the Sandusky County grand jury once results come back from the state crime lab. Both men are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The arrests came two days after the task force and partner agencies executed search warrants at homes on Croghan Street and Bidwell in Fremont on October 21, recovering suspected drugs, guns and a “Glock switch.” The task force did not say whether the two arrests are connected to those warrants. Anyone with information about suspected drug activity can contact the Sandusky County Drug Task Force at 419-334-5918.
